Tailen Toliver

is a singer/songwriter born in Garden City, Michigan, and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He has been singing since he was able to talk. Growing up, he didn't discover his vocal abilities until his pre-teens. During this time, he participated in many talent shows and showcases to strengthen his talents.

During his teen years, he was a part of choirs and music groups such as The Eastern Michigan University Gospel Choir that helped strengthen his on-stage persona and technique.

Tailen has also made his rounds as a backup vocalist in a multitude of shows across Michigan. Some of these events include Ann Arbor’s Top of the Park, Ypsilanti’s Jazz Fest, Detroit’s Motor City Pride, El Club and the 2022 Detroit Choice Awards. Tailen has opened up for artists such as J.Santino at the Detroit Shipping Company. He has sung and received high acclaim from a variety of different artists such as Kierra Sheard, Martha Reeves of Martha and the Vandellas, Jay Nedaj, and Tamar Braxton.

Some of his musical influences include Barbara Streisand, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, Brandy, Cece Winans, Carrie Underwood, Karen Clark-Sheard, and Kelly Clarkson. A versatile spirit, Tailen’s musical style touches R&B, Soul, Gospel, Pop, Country, and Rock.

Tailen’s mission is to inspire others “to work hard for your dreams.” As a developing singer, his family and peers discouraged him from pursuing music. But he believed God had another plan for his life, so he continued. He also feels he is fulfilling his mother’s dreams of becoming a singer. She passed away in 2008.

After the long wait, Tailen's debut single, “Caught On You" was released in June 2021, succeeded by “Outta My Head” featuring rapper L.C. and “Home” in March and May 2022, respectively. He also collaborated with DJ Ossico on the house-produced song, “Competition”, released in December 2022. His debut EP, “Outta My Head” was released in January 2023.
